In regard to Judith Lowell’s July 11 letter (“Time to change county leadership”) denouncing Alternative Plan 3, I applaud the council for considering all options. I’m certain the council will look at the report from the planning commissioners, but more importantly, they are clearly considering what the citizens of Snohomish County asked for at the community meetings regarding the update.
As a life-long resident of Everett, I have seen how the number of people moving into our county far outweighs the amount of land available to build homes. We do not want to be crammed into small neighborhoods; we want to choose where we can build a home. The people of Snohomish County have made it clear they are tired of the loss of privacy and increase in traffic congestion that comes with forcing more and more people into the same developments, rather than allowing more room to build homes.
Snohomish County has to plan for approximately 300,000 new people in the next 20 years.
I commend the council for looking at all alternatives, rather than limiting the county’s options.
