I am not a historic homeowner, but own a home in town. Not an artist but I like the arts. Attend the garden tours and spend some time in my yard but I do not call myself a gardener. I’m a lifelong resident of Snohomish. Unfortunately, Karen Guzak, Rebecca Loveless and Liz Loomis are running for Snohomish City Council positions interested in cosmetic superficial issues (spending) rather than fiscally serious ones (stable utility rates increase business revenue).
I was stunned by what I saw and heard at council meetings. Approving the electronic signs then making the businesses villains. “Mill Creek does it” (that’s their research). Loomis stated the sign ordinance would attract businesses like Nordstrom. I smiled too. Loomis and her Fab Four voting block told us we had to hook up to sewer in 30 days, increasing the hook up rates at the same time. Other towns do not force hook ups as advocated by Loomis. We used “Lake Stevens doesn’t require it” argument. It didn’t work. I should have used Mill Creek!
The “Loomis list” of preferred stores is her economic development plan. Oh, and paving roads. Has anyone from the “council knows best” group contacted the Brunswick franchise? I want my bowling back or is that too “Wal-martish”? For real representation, substance and financial stability, vote Swede Johnson position 4, Randy Hamlin position 5, and Doug Thorndike position 6.
