I have a problem with the ruling from the Snohomish County Council. First, they state that it is a good idea for senior citizens to have a dog or cat to help with the boredom that most of us endure when we lose a spouse through death. Then they pass a law saying that we must pay $7.50 for a license for that pet.
When I moved to Washington 17 years ago, that was a free license for life. It seems to me that this law should be repealed so that us poor seniors could further enjoy our pets like we used to. It sure would be nice to have more compassionate council members.
