It’s been a rough couple of weeks in football. (Let’s just say if some guy named Vinnie calls, we’re not here.) We’ll count on the home teams to make us well this weekend, starting with the UW, a 12-point underdog tonight at Arizona State.
At 6-0, ASU may be looking past this game. And Dennis Erickson has coached there for half a season, so he must really be itching to change jobs by now.
Meanwhile, WSU is an 18-point underdog at Oregon. The Ducks’ mascot was suspended earlier this year for beating up Houston’s Cougar mascot during a game. For the sake of Cougar solidarity, WSU has to at least keep it close.
Then on Sunday, the Seahawks take on the New Orleans Saints, who are winless this year after nearly making it to the Super Bowl in 2006. We’ll take the Hawks by more than 7.
Before this season started, the Saints’ coaches filled a coffin with mementos from last season’s success and, in a symbolic gesture, buried it on the sideline of their practice field.
They might want to dig it up and see if they accidentally dropped some good players in there.
