The Snohomish County Council is very much aware that forecasts have predicted continued population growth in Snohomish County. No one (not even Dwayne Lane) wants unregulated urban sprawl, but we still need to put land to its best use in order to help provide jobs and affordable housing for people. Existing transportation systems like I-5 must be efficiently utilized and improved as needed to support our continuing and future population growth.
Unfarmed farmland near a major transportation system like I-5 is not a good example of “best use” for this land.
I commend the County Council for changing the unfarmed “farmland” at Island Crossing near I-5 into a productive enterprise that will provide living-wage jobs (in addition to increased tax revenues) in Snohomish County.
