What a waste of money. The county is so hard-pressed for money to take care of the transportation problems that they want to raise any taxes that they can. Then what do they do? They decide to spend several million dollars to widen 3.9 miles of 35th Ave. S.E. to three lanes of traffic, two bicycle lanes and two sidewalks plus streetlights.
Over half of this is through peat bog, swamps and wetlands, part of which is alongside Lake Thomas. Does somebody want to make a left into the peat bog? If this is the way the county intends to spend the taxpayers’ money, I, for one, do not intend to help them by voting to raise any taxes. When the county learns to spend money a little more wisely, then maybe I will think about it.
