The City of Snohomish needs a new maintenance facility and the abandoned County Public Works yard on Bonneville Avenue is an ideal location.
County Public Works attempted to sell it to a developer last summer, with no takers. This is county-owned property (just like Cathcart Way South and West were) and it seems that once again the county may engage in another “closed-door” deal with a developer at the expense of the citizens.
It appears that the County Executive’s Office has complete control over this and they are not being transparent with the citizens. The county should afford the City of Snohomish the opportunity to purchase the property before thecity commits to purchasing the former Steuber Nursery in downtown Snohomish on Pine Avenue. This is an opportunity for the county to do the right thing.
