Recently, Gov. Chris Gregoire’s Climate Advisory Team (CAT) met to continue charting Washington’s course in response to climate change. I hope the CAT members, including Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon, set the course for real change, change that will put our state in position to lead on global warming.
The fact that Washington has a team of community leaders devoting their time to finding solutions for climate change indicates that this is an issue we are committed to addressing. Now their recommendations must show a similar level of serious intent. Our state needs to take decisive action to put us on the course to climate health.
The actions we, and the CAT, take now will make a real difference in the size of the problem we face. If we act now, then the challenges presented by climate change will be more manageable. If we delay, then the problems will become that much more difficult to solve. I encourage Executive Reardon to take the opportunity in front of him and help the CAT make strong recommendations for significant state action.
