Every election year we hear the same old tired rhetoric from politicians and aspiring elected officials. Candidates of all stripes fall over themselves touting a mantra of change.
“Change this,” “change that,” “America is broken,” “we need a new direction.” Yadda, yadda, et cetera …
I say enough already!
If there is one thing the results of the recent primary election make clear, it’s that we the voters don’t want change. After all, in every race in Snohomish County the voters easily advanced the incumbent. Similarly, every candidate the voters advanced to the general election identified their partisan affiliation as either Democrat or Republican. Could we the voters have been any more clear in our continued support of the status quo?
In the wake of this latest expression of the electorate’s support for business as usual, I implore our politicians to finally get the message. Enough of this misguided talk about “change.” We don’t want it, so please stop wasting our time about it!
Just give us what we had last year and let’s move on to more important things.
