After reading the Friday letter, “City’s motto: Move here if you dare,” I felt I had to respond. My husband and I were born in Everett. My parents and siblings were born here. My grandfather was an Everett policeman and my father a fisherman. This is my home but after my husband and I were burglarized on Sept. 11, we’ve changed our opinion about living here.
Honest citizens go to work and thieves are just waiting to take what we’ve worked so hard for. They have no remorse for what they do. I see that our city doesn’t have near enough police to keep us safe. The increasing problem with drugs, burglaries, gangs, car theft, etc., is astounding.
I remember growing up in Everett and we never had the need to lock our doors. Our children were safe at school and crime was minimal. Our traffic is horrible with no end in sight. Yes, we’ll probably move out of this area, our home, for a safer and saner place where we can feel safe and breathe easier again.
What’s happened to our Everett?
