Regarding the Sunday letter, “Poor response needs explanation”: I have lived in Snohomish County for more than 45 years of my adult life. If the writer is from the East Coast and thinks he gets better service than here he hasn’t been watching the news. This has been the worst series of snowstorms since I have lived here. The county crews were plowing snow and cleaning up county roads 24 hours a day for the last week, including Christmas.
While most of us sit in our cozy living rooms and read the paper and watch TV, they are out trying their best to keep the roads safe. I am shocked at the writer’s criticisms of the work the crews are doing and that he thinks he deserves a response to his criticism. The roads that are mentioned in his letter are not even county roads; they belong to the city of Marysville and the state.
I commend the people who did their best to keep us all safe and for doing it the right way, with the major roads first and the side roads next. We were all experiencing a difficult time getting around on some of the roads and that is why we try to take care of each other and try to help people who need it. I suggest that the writer apologize to the county workers he has insulted and give thanks for what they do.
