Funny, you never hear of atheists or agnostics debating the rights of gays to get married. You may hear them arguing for human rights, or civil liberties, or social justice, but never gay marriage. Maybe they assume that everyone should enjoy the full benefits of citizenship and equal treatment under the law, an idea that is unique to secular democracies. The problems arise from the people who want to distort the law by interpreting it according to their own intolerance, prejudice and superstition. If you don’t like gay marriage, don’t marry a gay. But don’t look for the law to vindicate your bigotry.
