As a Marysville resident of five years, I attempt to keep informed of the city’s accomplishments made under the mayor-city council form of government. To date it is difficult to identify any accomplishments.
I see no plans to develop a comprehensive approach to resolve Marysville problems. There is concern regarding high property taxes, new home construction resulting in school crowding, traffic, local water supplies, sewage and energy consumption. In my judgment the bedroom growth in Marysville is shortsighted and will create future fiscal problems. It would appear that the present system of government in Marysville cannot or will not take action to become a modern city.
I encourage the mayor to express our appreciation to the Tulalip reservation council for their development of the Quilceda center plaza. Hopefully, their center will continue to expand along with their sales tax revenue contributed by Marysville residents.
In conclusion, I did read views expressed by a Marysville council member favoring the continued present form of government. This gave me the feeling that he had visions of running for mayor in the future.
All that the residents of Marysville desire is honest leadership that will do what is best for the city.
