While collaboration between scientists to create a vaccine for HIV as well as a low cost, global strategy for access is imperative, this process will take years (July 25 editorial, “Fostering teamwork in battle against AIDS”).
In the meantime, the U.S. must fully fund the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria to ensure that effective, country-based programs are helping those in need today.
