Once again, Everett Transit is holding supposed public hearings on its proposed changes (yawn) and, as usual, claiming a lack of funding (yawn). The Herald did a huge article listing the city’s expenditures last year. Right at the top of the list was the over $2 million that goes to Community Transit each year for the Swift bus program (double yawn). That’s every year (snore).
What no one seems to want you (the public) to know is that the money that is paid into the Swift program is actually Everett Transit’s operating budget, the money that goes to pay for the drivers and for your service. Now they want you to ride the Swift so badly that they are proposing cutting the route of nine buses altogether so that you riders are forced to pay $1.75 to ride the Swift! Anybody awake yet?!
