I’m mystified by those people who advocate breaching the hydro-electric dams to accommodate fish runs.
These dams have been operating for decades so why have they suddenly become a problem for the fish. Apparently the fish adapted to them and have been reproducing quite well.
These dams are the most environmentally friendly sources of power available.
The overall environmental impact of wind turbines, solar panels and batteries has yet to be determined. The mining of lithium and the making and recycling of batteries could be an environmental disaster several orders worse than anything caused by the dams. So replacing dam energy with these forms of energy will be shooting ourselves in the foot.
