In a story that ran in the Jan. 15 paper, “Medicare mailing debated,” Democratic Sen. Tom Daschle strongly criticized the Department of Health and Human Services for sending seniors information explaining the changes in the Medicare program.
To quote the senator on the HHS mailing, “This is just a piece of propaganda that I believe has no business being paid for by the American taxpayer.” He said he is launching an investigation.
I hope Sen. Daschle includes in his investigation the expensive, four-color brochures that Rep. Rick Larsen and Rep. Jay Inslee produced and mailed, at taxpayer expense, to seniors explaining their views on the Medicare changes.
It seems Sen. Daschle and Reps. Larsen and Inslee don’t seem to mind their views getting out at taxpayer expense, just the views of those who disagree with them.
