Whenever a farmer finds a pest eating his corn, or other food crop, he buys an insecticide and sprays his crop to eliminate the pests.
We are faced with the same problem with sea lions and seals. They are the same as the pests that consume our food crops and should be treated the same as a pest in a corn field or a potato crop.
Our salmon are a valuable food source, whereas the sea lions and seals are the same as pests on a stalk of corn, and worth nothing while continuing to reproduce by the thousands and continue to consume one of our most our valuable food sources.
I think it’s time the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife do its job to protect our salmon and disregard the bleeding hearts who protest. If they are serious about saving living things why aren’t they out in the fields complaining to the farmers for using insecticides on the pests that are consuming their crops?
