The recent pharmacy board decision to allow pharmacists broad discretion to refuse to dispense drugs because of personal feelings is setting a bad precedent.
If you take out the emotional issue of abortion, we are left with just plain discrimination. Society has made great progress in the last 40 years, let’s not set the clock back.
I don’t see the difference in a pharmacist telling a woman, “I can’t fill your request because of moral issues, but you can go next door to the XYZ drug store,” and a restaurant owner telling a black person, “We can’t serve you here, you will have to go to the XYZ cafe next door.” Does anyone else see that?
