In a letter to the editor in the Sept. 28 Herald (“New PUD board should have say on new GM’s contract”) the writer does not seem to know the protocol for carrying out business when you are a member of a board of directors. As a former board president of a local credit union with over $60 million in assets, our board members were sworn in to conduct business as normal until the day their term in office ended. This is the protocol for all board members.
Obviously the writer feels they have a “dog in this fight” and I would suggest they were probably one of the “very few” folks who showed up at the last minute at the PUD board meeting to try and upend the process of selecting the new general manager.
The process of selecting a new general manager was in process way before the elections happened. And the writer is correct in saying that Kathy Vaughn was a very capable member and will be missed. But the writer’s comment on a high probability that Sid Logan will be replaced is simply the writer’s opinion and without merit.
While I don’t have a “dog in this fight” I do follow elections and do a lot of research on candidates before I vote. I am not a Democrat or Republican and I vote for people who I feel will do a good job of taking care of all of the people they represent.
Therefore for following the protocol he was appointed to carry out, along with the fact that he is simply the most qualified for the position, my vote goes to Sid Logan.
