Regarding the Sept. 16 article, “Dave Piland, voice of the Silvertips, dies at 43”:
I would like to start out by giving the Piland family my deepest sympathy on the loss of their father and husband. An Everett Silvertips game will not be the same without him. While reading The Herald article I couldn’t help but sit and soak in my own sadness. I, too, have a father fighting cancer. It has been the hardest challenge in all of our lives, especially his.
I found the bit about the Kentucky Fried Chicken to be very interesting. My father, too, loves Kentucky Fried Chicken. It gives me heartburn like crazy, but watching him enjoy it makes it all go away. I can only wish the best for everyone living and dealing with cancer. I hope there is something so very simple, such as KFC, in your lives to put a smile on your face and warmth in your heart. I am deeply sorry for your loss.
