Regarding Shirley Bartholomew’s op-ed column on the Forum page of the March 2 Herald: What a wonderful story by a very proud and knowledgeable lady! Her defense of “our” radio station was a delight to read and I’m sure that radio station KRKO’s owners are equally proud of her and what she had to say. I also believe that the Skotdal family has shown good faith in their efforts to salve the minute “wounds” of a very few very selfish individuals over the antenna stalemate.
Something that is very difficult for me to understand is why a few people go after smaller companies in an effort to crush their skulls. Why don’t these people go after the big companies and giants of the industries? Wouldn’t it be neat if only the big guys survived? I don’t think so. I listen to KRKO – and I read The Herald because they are not the giants of industry and they are all I need.
I would guess if those who are protesting the increase in power of KRKO wait long enough, a McDonald’s, a Safeway or another Arco gas station can be built on the sacred soil of the Snohomish River Valley.
