It is a truly sad day for our state when The Herald runs a front page story glorifying our misguided senator’s visit with Fidel Castro (“State residents explore fresh ties with Cuba,” Jan. 22). When will The Herald stop trying to deny its left-wing bias? A story on the family of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. visiting President Bush at the White House is relegated to page A3, while a warm fuzzy portrait of Castro is deemed worthy of the front page.
It’s bad enough the U.S. has such open trade with China, but now a bunch of ignorant socialists want to normalize relations with the Communist regime responsible for the Cuban missile crisis. Only in America would such stupidity be tolerated.
Sen. Maria Cantwell, Transportation Commission member Connie Niva and the other ladies mentioned in the article should feel disgraced to call themselves Americans.
