I am a senior living on a fixed income. So, when I had an opportunity to see my grandson-in-law being commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Air Force, I went to AARP to book the flight. For several reasons (mainly cost) I booked the trip with a flight on Delta. I was surprised that I could not select my seat ahead of time as I have been able to do in the past and recently on other airlines.
On the return flight from Montgomery, Alabama, I was unable to select my seat ahead of time. I am a large man and I prefer to sit on the aisle or at least have a window seat. I got my boarding pass online and I was surprised that I still could not select my seat. I called Delta customer service and I was told that because I bought my ticket from a third party, they reserved the right to treat me as a second-class customer (I am paraphrasing here). I was told it was all there in the fine print.
Please avoid flying with Delta until they change this policy.
If they get away with doing this other airlines may follow.
