I would like to add my thoughts as to why the modern Democratic Party seems bent on self-destruction. The party that was once a champion of private-sector workers’ rights and dignity has wandered far from this one-time core constituency. It now represents only public sector employees, immigrants, both legal and illegal, and disparate groups such as the LGBT community and Black Lives Matter.
Instead of securing my rights as a productive citizen, they want to tax me to pay for the non-productive. Instead of focusing on job creation for working citizens, they represent those who come here illegally to take our jobs. Instead of securing health care for these same working citizens, the expect us to pay the health care costs of anyone who can break into our country to get it for free.
Now, instead of acknowledging their mistakes, they blame their losses on the Russians. Instead of asking me why I no longer vote Democrat, they call me deplorable, a bigot and a racist.
I could go on and on about the reasons they are losing elections and no longer have my vote, but I will sum it up with one brief statement: I didn’t leave them, they left me.
