The Democrats like to blame President Bush and the Republicans for everything, largely problems they have created! They count on the fact that the public has a short memory.
Their hypocrisy , especially when it comes to Social Security, is appalling. Let’s look at the facts. Which party took Social Security from an independent fund and put it in the general fund so that Congress could spend it? Democratic President Lyndon Johnson and the Democratic-controlled House and Senate. Which party put a tax on Social Security? The Democrats. Which party increased the taxes on Social Security? The Democrats, with Al Gore casting the deciding vote. Which party decided to extend Social Security benefits to people who never put a dime in the system? The Democrats.
Thanks to the Democrats, those of us receiving Social Security are being taxed on 85 percent of our benefit! Don’t let the Democrats’ rhetoric fool you! They are the architects of our failing Social Security system.
