As a PUD customer I have never been forced to pay and maintain a deposit with the district. Nor was I aware until I read the recent letter to the editor that the PUD needed to send a bill three times to get payment for service provided. “It used to be that we would get a white envelope and then yellow and by the time the gray envelope arrived, it was time to pay the bill or make some arrangements”.
Unlike the letter writer, I do not believe this nefarious deposit is the result of the PUD being greedy and heavy-handed, but it is actually as the notification stated, “because of the payment record on this account.” By the writer’s own admission, she appears to have been late in paying for the last 20 years.
I am pleased that the writer is going to King County; maybe my rates will be reduced due to the savings in postage from not having to send out her past due notices every month.
