Desperate need to upgrade buildings

As a working mother of two school-age children I try desperately to be as involved as I can, in their school and activities. I have been shocked at the lack of parental attendance in school meetings from classroom curriculum to district bond meetings. I admit it’s difficult, but it’s not impossible. Anyone who walks into his or her school can see at a glance the desperate need to upgrade existing schools and for additional new schools.

If they listen to their children they are aware the plumbing is inadequate, and the portables don’t even have plumbing.

The computers are down because the electrical system does not have the capacity to handle it, which means they can’t check out books in the library or can’t take a test. Their lunches are overdone because the kitchen facilities are inadequate. If they’ve ever tried to get a parking spot or even a seat at any school event, they could see how overcrowded the schools are.

All these things, and more, are affecting their quality of education. I have attended some meetings on the bond and feel the district has done their homework and they have listened to the people who have taken the time to give their opinion. If you want what’s best for your children, grandchildren or even future children, do your part and vote “yes” for the Marysville School Bond. Ten dollars a month is a very small price to pay.
