During the 2008 Democratic presidential primary campaign, Sen. Obama made many promises as to what he would do if elected president. Among these was that with the implementation of his “green energy” plans we would reduce our dependence on foreign oil while creating millions of jobs. Hillary Clinton
questioned at the time what kind of “magic wand” he would use.
Are we less dependent on foreign sources? Your gas pump will give you the answer. We’re more vulnerable than ever to events happening in the world. Instead of developing our resources of natural gas, coal, nuclear power and oil, Obama has done the opposite. He’s shut down oil drilling. No refineries have been built. Not one nuclear power plant has been authorized. He’s promised to “kill” coal burning plants. Incredibly, he even stated that by implementing his green energy plans, prices would “necessarily skyrocket.”
Is this what we need? Oil tycoon T. Boone Pickens has thrown in the towel on wind power as it “doesn’t work.” Indian tribes are protesting the covering of prairie and desert lands with expensive solar panels. GE is a big supplier. Incidentally, GE CEO Jeffrey Immelt is chairman of Obama’s economic council and a big campaign supporter.
Imagine how many jobs would be created by turning American investors and workers loose on developing our resources. Imagine the positive impact exports would have on our trade balance. We can get out of this stagnant economy and put America back to work if the people insist that the Democrats and this administration put to use some common sense on energy.
