I am writing in reference to a letter published recently, concerning Planned Parenthood in Everett, as well as other locations, and the safety of abortions, one of the many services provided there.
The writer described patient-sensitive information, specifically one incident, a 911 call on a specific date and location describing a “possible perforated uterus.” I was surprised that this paper chose to publish what can only be described as bordering on breaking federal health privcacy laws. The letter writer appears to have access to information that when published for public consumption serves no purpose, other than to result in false conclusions about the safety of abortion, both D&C and abortifacient oral medication. The letter writer and the Herald face potential legal action based on the information revealed therein.
Attempting to determine the safety of abortion based on the limited cases referred to in the prior letter is plainly inaccurate, and I would suggest that this publication refrain from exposing medically sensitive information in the future.
