Regarding the letter, “Serious lack of one-floor options”: There are several additional considerations for one floor homes that have not been mentioned. Our aging population and the disabled, particularity those who use a wheelchair.
I have a profoundly disabled granddaughter and fortunately my family was able to purchase a one-story home. It’s not something most people think about unless they find themselves in a situation where it becomes necessary.
I understand that it is more costly to build and takes more land, but a two-story home can’t easily be modified, if at all, to accommodate these members of our society.
