In a world full of negativity, I want to tell you a positive story about the Snohomish School District. Recently, my 13-year-old son was diagnosed with kidney cancer (Wilms tumor). William had his left kidney and tumor removed on Nov. 7.
William is undergoing weekly chemo treatments, which are no fun. The stress level in our home is pretty high, as you can imagine. Len Hoover, Will’s counselor at Centennial Middle School, is coordinating a tutor for William to help get him back on track with his assignments. The school district has bent over backwards to assure us that William will get the support he needs to continue his education – whether it be at home or school. This took an enormous amount of stress off my shoulders and now we can concentrate on William’s health issues.
Children’s Hospital of Seattle has/is taking wonderful care of William during his surgery and chemo treatments. Snohomish School District gets an A+ for its continued support of William’s education. It does my heart good to see the outpouring of well-wishers for our son. William Luby was just a normal eighth grader at Centennial Middle School three months ago. Our lives were turned upside down, but with all the support I know we will get through this fine. Thanks to you!
