As each day goes by there seems to be a new surprise related to Obamacare.
As the details of this program continue to leak out, it looks more and more like it will collapse of its own weight. The Democrats went forward with this disastrous program against the will of the American people and the warnings of the Republicans. They virtually had to bribe several Democrat senators on Christmas eve to pass this bill.
Thirty-three states are refusing to set up insurance exchanges, which has resulted in delaying this very important aspect of the program until 2015. There is a projected 45,000-doctor shortage by 2020. Employers are choosing to scrap their group insurance plans and are opting to pay a fine, which is much cheaper than providing this service. They are also planning to cut some employees hours to less than 30 hours a week where possible to avoid the fine altogether. These employees will be forced to go to the state or federal exchanges for coverage by filling out a 21-page application. If they qualify for a premium subsidy they must fill out a 61-page application. Employees accepted in the program will learn that their cost will far exceed those under the former employer plan.
In the meantime, the 30 million now on Medicaid will continue to pay nothing for their coverage. I believe that Obamacare, by design, was set up to fail so the government could then step in and enact what the Democrats really wanted, a single payer government program like those in Canada and Europe. The projected cost of Obamacare has increased from $900 billion to a staggering $2.3 trillion and we all know that will increase as well as this abomination goes forward. Obamacare is simply too costly, too large, too unwieldy and too unenforceable to implement of track and is in real trouble before it’s official starting date. I hope it fails for the sake of our country’s future.
