Do not increase our property tax

Regarding the Monday article, “$5 property tax would fund conservation work”:

A $5 fee is a fairly small price to ask for work to help sustain farming and protect clean water in rivers and Puget Sound. (Read: How do we justify our existence.) This statement is from Monte Marti, vice chairman of the “Snohomish Conservation District Board of Supervisors.”

This district was created in 1941 and is just now in dire need of additional funding. How about we use the taxes already being collected for agriculture, fish and wildlife, clean water, conservation, clean air and everything else needing to be clean? The federal, state and county are getting more than enough taxes. How about we eliminate the aforementioned board? Would we have an onslaught of clogged culverts, unhealthy streams and really poor fish migration? How about the poor farmer who needs help (plans) to manage manure and grazing? Would he be unable to function in a responsible way? I haven’t had the privilege yet of being taught backyard conservation. What is backyard conservation?

Please, please, please do not increase property taxes.
