Does every death need scrutiny?

Here we go again, every whale that washes up on the beach has to be thoroughly checked and scrutinized. (Tuesday, “Golf ball, debris found in dead whale’s stomach.”) Most die of old age and shouldn’t need a necropsy.

Sure, if a young one washes up with trauma, I can think that a reason for its death is necessary. However, sonic beams do not cause skin trauma as with the young one on Long Beach recently. An explosion or propeller, sure.

I’m sure these investigations do not cost the taxpayers money, but I have more important things to worry about. Like a loved one’s death from old age.
