There are many worthy causes in this life, and I’m as sympathetic to a misguided and lost Orca as anyone. But in a world where children are hungry, old people can’t pay for their medications or their heat, families are without health insurance protection, kids are locked out of schools because we can’t pay our teachers adequately, seniors are being taxed out of their homes, how dare Sen. Maria Cantwell or anyone else purporting to “represent us” pry a $100,000 out of our federal tax money to move a whale back to his pod. Did anybody ask us if we’d rather have it go to something more urgent and significant?
Nobody asked me, and the priority for the whale is way, way down the list.
