In spite of the severe snow storms and cold, the Sky Valley (Monroe) Food Bank volunteers worked together and made every attempt to get down to the food bank facility and open up for those in need. For two days the food bank and other volunteers drove to pick up each other so we could be open. For two days and one evening, the food bank gave plentiful food to more than 400 families and more than 500 children got to see Santa as the parents received toys to provide for their children.
We want to express our deepest thanks to all those who have donated food, toys, money, hats, scarves, sweaters, mittens and more that helped so many struggling neighbors in need. Huge kudos and gratefulness to the hard-working, reliable volunteers who dedicated themselves to serving — no matter what the weather. Some volunteers delivered food in the deep and treacherous snow to people who were shut in and had no food.
A huge and heartfelt thank you to all who helped for making the ultimate effort to make all the difference to others — saving Christmas for approximately 1,600 individuals! Bless you and may you have a very happy New Year!
