The pulp and paper mill operations at Kimberly-Clark have been cast in a negative view recently. Is toilet paper really to blame? I hardly think so.
The people who are raising this white paper ruckus seem to overlook the fact that products made from bleached pulp from mills around the country are part of their everyday lives. Take, for example, the newspaper that this whole story was reported on. I do believe that it is indeed white. What other products, you may be wondering? Well, the following come to mind: panty liners, tampons, diapers, etc. Would you care to use any of these if they were brown? Or suppose the exam table covering at your doctor’s office was brown. I think most people would write the paper to report this type of atrocity. Would they mail it on brown paper in a brown envelope?
It seems that there is a definite need for white paper of all sorts, and Kimberly-Clark doesn’t make it all.
