In regard to the Thursday article “Public safety isn’t silent,” I am appalled at area residents who are putting up such a stink over something that they knew was in their neighborhood when they bought their homes. I grew up in the Port Gardner neighborhood very close to The Preserve and now live in the View Ridge neighborhood and have never been bothered by the noise; and I do hear it. It seems to me that this is another case of the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
Well, I am one resident who is not willing to compromise my safety or tax dollars for a new facility that is unnecessary and can’t replicate the same type of training that this facility provides. What’s next? The trains, the sea lions? They cause just as much noise in the area as the gun range.
