Dn’t knock it till you’ve watched it
I am responding to Jack McClurg’s Jan. 25 letter, “NASCAR possibilities: The noise would ruin quality of life.”
Before 1970, I wasthe same way as he was about loud, noisy race cars until one Saturday night in March 1970. I went to a race at Evergreen Speedway and I was hooked. The noise, excitement, compassion – it is very addictive. Especially those crazy figure eight races with up to 20 cars going through one intersection from two different directions. Just think of all the hundreds of jobs a major raceway will create. And the extra revenue to the city.
In the off-season from October to March, I stand and stare at the calendar and wait for racing season to start. I am 61 years old and I have spent one half of my life at Evergreen Speedway. I wish they would run all year long. I am hooked on racing.
