I read with interest the letter written by Marie Braaten, on Dec. 22, regarding mammograms. I am in complete agreement with her. Please ladies, don’t let fear of the unknown keep you from having yours.
Four years ago I had my physical and breast exam. My doctor said all was well and there were no lumps that could be felt upon examination. I was then told to have my annual mammogram, which I have been doing for many years. I made the appointment and two weeks later I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Had I decided to ignore having a mammogram my cancer would have gone undetected. I have my mammograms done at Radia and they do everything they can to make it comfortable for you, including heating the surface with a heating pad before they begin. The technician is always a woman.
Neither my mother nor either of my sisters had breast cancer. So please, do yourself a favor and make an appointment today.
