It seems the loudest complaints of noise from airports, racetracks, gravel pits, etc. are usually from people who bought or built homes near existing facilities. We all know that if the area grows, so will these facilities. I have little or no sympathy for them. We purchased our home close to Evergreen Speedway over 20 years ago. We knew that it would be noisy and sometimes traffic would be a nuisance, but opted to buy because of price and location.
If we had purchased near Harvey Field, I would welcome expansion, as it would pump more money into the city’s economy as these visitors would be making purchases that would add to the tax base. It doesn’t add to traffic much as it is a short walk to downtown.
