As long as the toy isn’t pink slime: A San Francisco judge says McDonald’s can continue to include toys in its Happy Meals after throwing out a lawsuit that sought to ban the practice in California. The Center for Science in the Public Interest, which brought the suit, said that in time the give-aways “will seem as inappropriate and anachronistic as lead paint, child labor and asbestos.”
Seizing on the idea, McDonald’s said it would now make sure the toys are made using lead paint, child labor and asbestos.

Got the i before e right: The Eastern Washington city of Richland has discovered that at least four of its street names are misspelled. For example, Van Giesen Street should have been spelled Van Gieson Street.
Even more embarrassing for Richland, which depends economically on the never-ending clean-up at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation, was the discovery that Richland is actually spelled “Federal Subsidy.”

Through the looking glass: Though it’s not ready for sale, Google is promoting its “Project Glass” headset which can project icons, messages and other information as if they’re floating in front of the wearer’s eyes.
In addition to appearing to talk to yourself when using a Bluetooth headset, you can now stare into space, making it easier for everyone else to give you a wide berth.
