This is in response to Joan Meier’s letter on March 7, (“Bus riders: They should pay their own way”). Meier thinks transit riders should pay higher fares to ride transit yet, she doesn’t mind paying higher gasoline taxes for the maintenance of the roads and highways. She has probably never been to a park n’ ride lot on a weekday to notice all of the vehicles owned by commuters (who pay gasoline taxes, too) who commute to Seattle in the morning and come back in the afternoon. I say, let’s put tolls on the roads so that she can pay her own way too!
