I read the Feb. 27 editorial, “Feds must support local war against meth” where the editorial board wants to follow Sen. Maria Cantwell’s lead and throw $800 million at the methamphetamine problem. Does the editorial board read its own paper? On Feb. 20 there was an article about how the state of Oklahoma now requires pharmacies to keep popular cold medications behind the counter and require identification to buy the products. In doing this, Oklahoma has decreased the seizures of illegal meth by 80 percent. This seems more practical than throwing $800 million at the meth problem.
Washington state should do the same thing.
