Please, Everett, let’s not be so stupid with tax dollars.
Let’s fix something else that’s broken. Parking meters? No way.
What about all the previous administrations’ tons of capital already spent to make the downtown core vital again.
I’ve hear this same ol’ song since I came to town in 1984 — and now you want to penalize folks for shopping in your “All America City.”
I’ve often wondered why the same two or three blocks of downtown Everett mean more to our City Council(s) than, say, the whole stretch of Broadway. These businesses stretching for some 35 blocks have never pleaded or begged for a handout from the city, yet they prosper.
What about the whole business length of Hewitt Avenue? They too have never been the the rally cry of our city councils, yet those business flourish also.
I challenge all of our city leaders to park your car and walk “your” streets. Meet and listen to those business owners who have hung their shingle, paid their taxes and salaries, gone through this and other stupid studies and numerous construction interruptions — yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Save our money.
