Imagine my surprise in September when I saw a Lillian Kaufer campaign mailer in which Hans Dunshee endorsed Mike Hope for State Representative 44th District. Dunshee’s quote says “I endorsed Lillian because she has such strong democratic values. She’s not afraid to stand up against special interests. Frankly, we could use more people like Lillian in Olympia.”
Why is this an endorsement for Mike Hope? Because Hans Dunshee himself is afraid to stand up against special interests, and we really don’t need people like that in Olympia. Go to the campaign finance disclosure reports on the Public Disclosure commission Web site and you will see that most of Dunshee’s contributions come from political action committees and the people from King County, including Seattle corporate executives. Hans Dunshee is not representing his constituents in the 44th District, but instead, he is supporting special interest groups. In his own words, we need more people in Olympia who will stand up against this.
Mike Hope has been knocking on doors since the beginning of this year, listening to the concerns of citizens. He has been championing causes such as education, transportation and public safety. He is addressing the concerns of the people, not special interests. How much improvement in these areas have you seen with Hans Dunshee in office over the past 10 years?
Join me in supporting Mike Hope for State Representative in the 44th District.
