Earling’s vote on property taxes hurt

I’m a senior citizen living in Edmonds on a fixed income. Every day I have to make tough choices about how I am going to spend my money. Do I pay for food or medication? I have to make those kinds of decisions.

That’s why I’m furious that Dave Earling has the nerve to run for Snohomish County executive. Since Dave Earling was elected, Edmonds’ budget has doubled. Meanwhile, Dave Earling has responded by voting three times to increase my property taxes for 2003.

Dave Earling’s mismanagement is eating up my tax dollars and forcing me to tighten my belt so the city doesn’t have to. Yet Earling feels entitled to a promotion to a higher office. It’s hard to believe that Edmonds is such an efficiently run organization that there is no way to cut its budget. Just try to get a permit or license to do anything in Edmonds and you’ll see that there is plenty of room for improvement in the city government.

Mr. Earling, next time you decide to vote for three property tax increases, ask yourself if you think it is more important to pay property taxes or buy medication. I don’t think you’ll like the answer.
