The Herald Editorial Board’s call for the dissolution of the Electoral College raises some questions about the board’s qualifications to make such a suggestion (“Electoral College interferes in the votes of Americans,” The Herald, Nov. 8).
Other than relying on Democrat talking points, how many of your editorial board even know why our founders thought that it was so important to establish an Electoral College? How many of them have studied the founding of our nation in more depth than reading a couple editions of Cliff Notes? Have they studied the Federalist Papers, the contemporariness (sic) argument of some of our wisest founders for why they felt that the Electoral College was so needed to assure that the “Tyranny Of The Majority” does not destroy the liberties of the minorities. That fear still exists.
The Electoral College protects everyone. It needs to stay!
