Recently, I read an opinion piece in The Herald (March 31) by a columnist who had had a near-death experience. Most often, I enjoy Larry Simoneaux’s columns immensely. This one, however, struck pretty close to home. An ER doc of my acquaintance has assured me that my survival in a medical emergency probably depends most on highly trained technicians showing up at my side quickly. EdmondWe in Edmonds are fortunate to have top-of-the-line emergency medical services (EMS). Frankly, I want to keep it that way!
Emergency services are vital to all ages and conditions — no, it isn’t only us old guys having heart attacks who use the service. Picture, for examples, a kid falling out of a tree, an auto being driven into a building, victims of a fire. We need the best trained and equipped technicians possible. Their ability to arrive quickly and provide aid really can make the difference between life and death. I ask all Edmonds residents to join me in voting “Yes!” on the EMS levy in May.
